Changing Permalinks Not Working

    I am trying to change the permalink format on the main blog of my WP multisite install to the following:

    /%post_id%/%postname%/

    Currently the permalinks are set as /blog/%post_id%/%postname%/, but I’m trying to remove the blog section of the URL. For some reason, when I change the permalink setting of the main blog through network admin and save it, all of the URLs change to the new style in links but none of them actually work (just a no posts found error when viewing specific posts).

    Am I doing something wrong or did I miss a step of the process? This is a private multisite install so I’m not worried about URL collisions from removing the blog segment of the permalink. Thanks.

    You’re not doing this wrong, it’s just how SubFolder multisite works. Editing it via the network admin -> edit sites page is correct, but not supported and may not work on all setups 🙁
