HTML page outside of wordpress

Hi guys,

I am trying to set up a page I designed and coded outside of the WordPress structure. I put the page in my www directory, uploaded all the proper images into the images folder, but when I point my browser to its location I get a 404 error. So I uploaded trial.html into my www folder and when I go to http://www.test.com/trial.html, I get a 404 error. Is there a way to set this page up outside of WordPress? I don’t want to do it within the WordPress structure because I frankly don’t know how.
