Widgets Page Not Working
-
Discovered last week that the Widgets Page is not working — the widgets area on the right does not appear, the help and screen options links do not work. I’m using the Weaver II theme, and updated to WP 3.6, hoping that would fix it, but no such luck. Help! I found some other posts about this, but none of the suggested fixes have worked.

check your browsers consoles for any error messages and report it back here..
(in chrome)
right click > inspect element – select consoleDidn’t know that was there, and don’t know what these mean (other than the dreaded “404”). Any idea what this is telling me?

It became obvious that NextGen Gallery plugin was crashing the page, so I deactivated it, and Viola! It works!!!!
Other posts from people having the same problem with the Widgets page suggested deactivating ALL plugins then reactivating them one-by-one to determine what the problem was. I hated to have to do this since it is a live business website, and was also fearful that deactivating/reactivating could cause its own problems — unlikely with well written plugins, I’m sure, but I’m new to WordPress, and err on the side of cautiousness.
Evan Herman’s suggestion to use Chrome’s “inspect element – console” feature zeroed right in on the plugin that was causing the problem. Thank you!
