Changing WordPress directory redirect issue

hello

i have followed the instructions exactly for giving wordpress its own directory. i think this is a problem with a redirect as this is the URL that it seems to be getting stuck on:
http://www.ineldersfield.org/wp-login.php/?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ineldersfield.org%2Fwordpress%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

i am trying to change the site URL from http://www.ineldersfield.org/wordpress to http://www.ineldersfield.org.

i have no .htacess file as i did not not have pretty permalinks enabled.

also i had to change the site url in the wp-config.php file as it had already been changed in there and therefore was no longer enabled from the wordpress dashboard.

i really could do with some help as am now well and truly stuck.

i found this solution but am unsure as to how to do this and if it would work on my system.
