How to display category name without ul/li links?

    How can I show only the category name instead of name & link ? In 0.72 I put Section: <?php the_category() ?>, but with version 1.02 the system ads links automatically.

    Not sure exactly what you mean. Do you mean you want the name of the category to appear but it not to be a link? Or do you mean you just want the heading “category” to appear with nothing below? In both cases the answer lies in editing the index.php file.

    editing the index file wont generate category list without links…
    you will have to make a new function i guess.

    Has anyone figured this out. I’d like to do something slightly different. I’d like to return the value “category_nicename” for the current post. For the life of me I can’t figure it out. I tried writing a little code, but my coding is so bad it just ended up causing my whole page to not display properly!!!
