    Oh, no… Tiny’s gone!

The visible rich-text editor seemed to be working OK after I installed WordPress three days ago– when I was in Write mode, Tiny was there, cute as a button… I could format and block and link to my heart’s content. But yesterday Tiny vanished! Snatched right under my nose! One moment he was there, and the next– poof, gone. No ransom notes yet… Or strange men in topcoats and hats lingering under the lampposts outside my door.

It’s been a full day without Tiny, and I miss the little guy more than I care to admit.

In my Profile page, under Personal Options, the ‘Use the visual rich editor when writing’ box is checked properly.

Any other clues I should be looking at to get my Tiny back? Bloody footprints? Ladder marks at the window?

  • Try pressing Ctrl and F5 together?

No, didn’t work. Ctrl & F5 together executed the Windows ‘Open File’ command — also opened it withouth hold Ctrl key..

    ???

You probably have a fancy keyboard with programmed functions on the F keys. There should be an F Lock key (on my Microsoft keyboard it’s at top right, just above NumLock). Press that key once, then try Ctrl+F5.

I tried it both ways, toggling the F Lock Key; but Tiny doesn’t appear.

I found another thread on support from a member who had the same problem:

To solve it, he had to ‘re-upload’ Tiny in it’s proper directory.

I thought Tiny was bundled with WordPress-2; if I have to reinstall in, any tips how I go about it? And what sub-directory does it go in? I went to my Dreamhost server, found the WordPress directory, but can’t determine which subdirectory Tiny belongs in.

    DARING RESCUE!

    Good news!

After an anonymous tip from an embedded agent, a SWAT team stormed a house in downtown Los Angeles this afternoon, and rescued TinyMCE just moments before his kidnappers were about to slice off one of his ears (which has an uncanny resemblance to the DOS symbol for ROOT directory: c\ )

The main culprit was my Firefox JavaScript filter (a devious program called NoScript!) that inadvertently was reset to stop JavaScript execution on the Write page.

Thanks for everyone’s help – Tiny promises to send Christmas cookies to one and all.
