Support for multi-lingual site

    I am a developer that is struggling to find a plugin that support using WordPress to manage multi-lingual site, the key functionality of which would include
    1) Maintaining multi-languages on categories and pages
    2) Allow user when posting to post to 2 different languages (using 2 text areas)
    3) A Language selector link when site is viewed.

    Is one such plug in available? If not, how could I set about developing a plugin? I am an experienced PHP and DB developer but very novice to wordpress.

    I know I can have a work around- install 1 instance of wordpress per language, but that is kind of any overhead for people posting to wordpress, to have to login twice to post!

    I am also very interested in the features you list. Especially having a link at the top that automatically translates the entire content (not just the WordPress-related instructions and terms) of the page into different languages. If there is still nothing available like this please contact me if you would like to look into collaborating on a solution.
