• Hi girls and boys,
I’ve follow the guide on http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_an_Archive_Index to make an archive index. But it don’t work. I’m using the wordpress default template. When I try to add new custom field in a new page, it won’t let me, unless I input the key. So I tried to input the key, then after adding I delete the key. It won’t work this way either. May I know how do I make an archives index please, thank you.

  • Try modifying an existing archive index. That way you know that you’re working from code that you know works.

I don’t get you. And I’m not sure where’s the existing archieve index. Sorry for being noob. =(

That’s ok, everyone starts somewhere 😉

Try looking in your theme folder for a file called archive.php.

Hey thanks, I’ve figure out the problems by accident.lol

    Thanks alot maerk.

WP’s default theme (try to learn the right terminology!) does have an archive index. What are you struggling with?

Just go to Write > Write Page and from the Page Template dropdown select “Archives”. Do not write anything in the content. Save the newly created Page, let’s say with the title “My Beautiful Archives”. Go and click on My Beautiful Archives and enjoy 🙂
