Use these tool to troubleshoot site preformance:
http://gtmetrix.com/ (host issues)
http://validator.w3.org/ (site markup issues)
http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/ (security issues)
Note: always benchmark site performance using default unedited theme and no plugins first (so you know what to expect from host).
You may want to look for a better host. Discuss results above with them.
Just did a speed test here – http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ – and your site loaded in 6.73 sec. May be a problem with your ISP.
Use Wp Super Cache or W3 Total Cache plugin. Cache plugin will increase your site speed.

Thanks Guys. I see it is loading quicker now, but it has the habit of doing that once I load it for the second (and consecutive times). I’ll have a go tomorrow and see what happens.
I did just log in using the ftp and found a couple of old files on the style sheet which I had re-named and left sitting there. I’ve just removed them, and wondered whether there may have been a conflict there?
I guess we’ll see tomorrow.

Yes, I tried using cache plugins a few weeks back, and unfortunately they don’t work for some reason? They ended up screwing up the site.

I think I’ll mark this post as resolved. I’m not entirely happy with the speed of loading – however I’ll have to chip away at it bit by bit when I have some time to devote to it. Thanks to all those who contributed.
