I’ve seen a similar issue discussed here, but not fully resolved. I tried to reinstall the theme, and that helped some things work better but not this issue.

(This theme is wonderful! It took me trying about 20 before I felt comfortable editing one as a newbie, and this looks beautiful so thank you!)

I would like to have a static home page, and when you click ‘blog’ in the menu it displays the blog function of wordpress on the page and updates as I post.

I have gone to Settings–Reading, but when I change the selection from static page to the other option, I am not sure what to select as my ‘front page’ since it’s already built into the theme, and when I only select my ‘posts page’ as blog, it dosen’t work. Either the slider screen appears on the blog page, or the blog page dosen’t redirect properly.

I am at nestedheartcounselling.com but I have an under construction page up right now. Let me know if any screen shots would help. Thanks!

What you need is a Home page template. Download it from here:
http://ge.tt/api/1/files/25Fo03n/0/blob?download

and upload it to your theme folder and then assign the template to your custom page.

Thank you, I have done that. My static page is set to the Home Page Template, and my blog posts page is set to Blog. When I click Blog on my website it takes me to this address and continues to show the home page template (even though I have it selected as default with a sidebar): http://nestedheartcounselling.com/?page_id=100
If you have any other suggested help that would be great, thanks!

your site is displaying a “Coming Soon” page.

Well yes, because I’m not ready to have my site be public yet. But when I’m logged in to WordPress it allows me to preview my site as it would be when it’s launched and that’s how I know there is still a problem. Can I take any screen captures that would be helpful in figuring out this problem?

did you add the blog page template for this page:

and no screenshot wouldn’t help.

Oh, no I didn’t, I’m using page with left sidebar and as you can see the slider page appears instead. Do you have a link to a blog template I can download and assign to that page? Thank you!

when editing the “Blog” page, select “Blog page template” from right from the “Page Attributes” box.

Default Template, Contact Page, Home Page Template, Page with Left Sidebar, and Page with no sidebar.

These are the only options I see in the drop down menu when I edit a page.

oh sorry. my mistake. the blog page template is only available in theron lite.

what you should do is, create a category called “blog” and mark your blog posts with that category and then add the category to your menu.
