• hey there,

I’m trying to do something a little bit out of the ordinary here. Basically I need to install the genesis 1.9.2 theme multiple times on the same domain (not subdomain). For example : http://www.example.com/blog1, http://www.example.com/blog2, and so on. On the homepage a different one as well.

I installed wordpress in multiple folders successfully through hostgator cpanel, but I can’t install genesis theme multiple times because it uploads itself into the same default folder everytime.

Here’s the message from wordpress dashboard :

Installing Theme from uploaded file: genesis.1.9.2.zip

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the theme…

    Destination folder already exists. /home4/etcetera/public_html/classifiedsearchengine.org/wp-content/themes/genesis/

    Theme install failed.

Why do I need to do this? Because I need a customized theme for every subdirectory.. No child theme or anything, I’m just going to customize style.css on every subdirectory and maybe have different menus as well.

Any ideas how to do this? Maybe there’s another way to accomplish this but I don’t know anything about .php if this is what you’re thinking about.

  • How are you uploading the genesis theme? Are you using an auto-loader somewhere?

You should be able to upload the theme directly to the right folder of each individual WordPress install using ftp. Or, the other option: log into each WordPress site individually and install the theme from each individual admin dashboard.

Lettergrade, yeah that’s how I thought it should work.

Just realized there was an old version of genesis installed previously in the second directory I was trying and this is what is giving me the error ”Already exists”.

thx you just saved me sooo much time ;P

    Great, glad to hear it!
