• I just realized that images within a folder on my root directory named /icons was generating a 404 error. Here is the page: http://fotocouncilor.chriscouncilphotography.com/icons/twitter-icon.png

After some research I learned that my blog is showing some sort of default /icons/ folder which doesn’t appear in my hosting/FTP account. Here is the link: http://fotocouncilor.chriscouncilphotography.com/icons/

It appears that this is a default directory on the Apache server, and is quite common on WordPress sites, but due to a recent update it is now appearing and conflicting with the /icons folder I had created. This is the only other support ticket I could find related to this problem, but with no solution: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/does-wordpress-use-the-apache-icons-folder?replies=3

I fixed the initial problem by renaming the /icons folder that I had created.

However, is there a way to hide the /icons/ folder that is being generated by Apache? The people at Godaddy had no idea what I was talking about.

This appears to be a common visible directory on many hosted WordPress sites, but I have visited other sites that hide it and generate a 404 page.

Any suggestions on how I can do that (hide the /icons/ directory)?
