I’m wondering if your database is full?
I am having the same problem with this . I am using wordpress 2.7 . First it imports 4-5 posts then it stalls, when I try again it imports 4/5 posts again. I am hosting my wordpress on hostgator and I have unlimited DB space. Can you tell us why we are facing this problem ? I have tried to import other blogs too but same result. Another thing I am facing is my draft posts are publishing automatically.

I don’t know why you are seeing this issue, but there are some things you can try.
firstly, ensure that the trash is empty.
Next, install the Beta version, it’s not officially release yet but it’s got a lot of bugs fixed from the 0.5 and 0.6 versions. Critically it also uses a newer technique for the Ajax calls which seems a lot more reliable than the old method.

Finally if you still get problems then you might want to configure logging to file.
