Is there a tag I could use to put the ad in a spot I want it? So if I did a post maybe I could put something like <ad> so that I can have the ad appear where I want it

There is no shortcode you can use but You can use the “Insert Ad in Middle of Post” feature to automatically place Ads in the middle of the post.
