Hey guys, I have a funny problem (not new to the forums as far as I can see) with Event Manager and WPML but unfortunately I haven’t been able to solve it. I have a site in English (base language), Italian and German. All works well, but when it comes to the dates of the events, I see that day and month names are not being translated.

    I have them formatted the #EVENTDATES to look like l, F j, Y
    The result in English is:

    Wednesday, 26 June, 2013

which is ok. But I get the exact same result in Italian and German, which is completely undesired. Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

    Many thanks!

Indeed I tried. It is installed, yet the dates are not being translated….
    Thanks for the reply!!!! 🙂

    Hiya,

If I remember correctly, Month names are handled by WordPress/PHP itself. Events Manager just gets given the right text to replace the date format with.

How are you translating other aspects of WordPress?

    Thanks,
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
    thanks for the reply!
I’m not sure I understand your question correctly, but I’ll give it a try anyway.
I use WPML for all translations. The theme is translated using .po files (the string translation pluging of WPML was just too much work to do), while the contents (posts and pages) are translated the WPML way.
    Does this help?
    Thanks!

can you confirm that wordpress date gets translated and only within EM is not?

That’s a good point. I just checked and dates are not being translated anywhere… How did I missed that?!?!? :-/

Do you know where should I check for this?
    Thanks!

I solved it!!!! (The tricky way, but anyway solved it)

The problem was that I hadn’t translated the wp core with WPML. The idea is to upload the .mo and .po files as mentioned in this page and voilà!!!

Just make sure that you know how to deal with the potential 413 Request entity too large problem….

    Thanks everyone! 🙂
