Need help setting this up-really confused

Hello all..I am all a bit new to WP, although am getting it slowly. I think I need to quickly explain what I am trying to achieve first,just to make sure I’ve got the right plugin..

I’m building a charity website,it’s currently in a subdomain HERE It’s a child of twentyelven..I want the Membership Area link and the three drop-down sub-page links to require a membership login, but all other pages to be viewable by the public.

I’ve tried loads of plugins and totally failed to make them work, and have stumbled upon UAM and it does look like exactly what I need, but I really cannot make head nor tail of how to set it up.

Can someone please run me through this, or is there a youtube tutorial anywhere?
