monthly category archives

I’ve looked around a bit and I haven’t been able to find the answer to my problem – if it’s been answered please point me in the right direction.

What I want to do is fairly simple – I want my monthly archive pages to display only posts in a certain category (for me, it’s three). Right now I’m just using wp_get_archives, but I can’t get it to filter for category. Is there a way to do this without modifying the core files? I’d like to steer clear of that, if possible.
