Customize Site/Preview Tool

I am completely new to WordPress.
I choose a theme, but every time I try to customize it/go to the preview page, the tool comes up on the left, but it brings me to the log-in page for WordPress and says “Your session has expired. Please log-in again.” I keep logging in, it says I am successful and then it bring me back to the log-in page.
I can’t preview the changes I’ve made and there is still nothing live on my site.
I thought it might be my cookie settings, but I changed it to allow all cookies.
I also tried 2 different themes.
