• I currently have a wordpress site set up on bluehost. It’s fairly new and has less than 20 posts overall. I plan to move it to hostgator, and have seen some of the videos showing zipping the files and uploading them to the other directory.

I’m not a techie guy and am afraid I’ll mess things up, so instead of doing that I’m thinking of copying the text portion of each post to the new wordpress site (in hostgator). I guess it’s more idiot free.

Is this possible? If this is possible, how do I do about it, because I know I still need to delete the old wordpress install, change DNS servers and other things. I’d appreciate how to go about it and the order of which to do it so as not to goof things up.

    Thanks.

  • If it’s a new account on Hostgator, I think they still do site transfers for free. You’d have to check with them.

If you want to do it yourself, the Codex article on moving a site has detailed instructions, and offers methods that are much simpler than copying and pasting text and will also include all your plugins, theme(s), and settings.
