• Hello,

I always wondered why WordPress works so slow – when working on articles, loading pages in the adminarea and so on. Sometimes it took 20 seconds until a site was loaded.

I thought my webserver was the reason. I thought it could have been some plugins or so.

But then I accidently deactivated the “Object Cache” in W3 Total Cache… and realized that WordPress worked very fast again. Click – site loaded – click – site loaded… fine!

But why? Should Object Cache not speed up the site instead of slowing it down?

I used Object Cache with APC (my server supports it).

Now I have deactivated it, but I would really like to know why it slows down everything?

It depends on everything else your server is doing, there is nothing you can do that magically works in every single case, even if you pay for it. I’m happy to take a look at your site if you wish.
