funny this just happened to me and when i go to wp-admin it says
Your database is out-of-date. Please upgrade.
Nothing comes up in the page source telling me that your site isn’t reading the index.php file. Try re-uploading the index.php file to your root WP dir.
But, to be honest, I don’t know what the problem is.
You could also try http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php or even the install.php file. Try those
i ran the upgrade file for mine and it solved it, just thought it was weird since i haven’t touched any of the files lol
Okay, downloaded the latest WP (Think that’s what I already had anyway) and i’m going to try to Upgrade/Reinstall.
Let you know what happens!
Okay folks,
Uploaded everything again, overwrote the older files…running /wp-admin/upgrade.php or /wp-admin/install.php gives me the same old white screen.
Any other ideas before I delete everything from my server and start all over from scratch ( i do have a relativeley recent backup of everything)
John
Have you looked at your web server’s logs? Or more importantly, the error logs for the web server? I’d wager there might be something useful there.
HandySolo
I’m Not that handy. How do I do that? What am I looking for?
Well, you might contact your host’s tech support and ask them to have a peek.
Without going into too much detail, if you have some sort of cpanel type thingy with your web host service, look around for an option to view your logs. If you have such thing, you’ll likely see access logs and error logs. Pop ’em open and scroll down to the bottom and have a look.
But again, if the above paragraph makes you squirm, contact your host. π
One other thing you might try that just ocurred to me: Ftp to your site’s /wp-content/plugins directory and consider moving the plugins out of there one by one and trying again to access your blog. Considering your first post, you might start with SK2 just for grins.
Thanks HandySolo!
I consider myself pretty tech savvy but I really have no idea about that logs and cpanel thingy….
Will mess with the plugins some more..SK2 is already gone!
John
Yeehaw! Problem is solved I just started deleting all of the plugins that I have onboard but haven’t used in a while, and now we’re back…going to have to try to get SK 2 going again…but at least the site is back up….thanks so much for all of the help. If I pinpoint which plugin it was I’ll let y’all know!
Thanks again,
John
