Problem with Sidebar Registration

First of all,great plugin jeff. But I encountered a small problem.
When a user registers using (left)sidebar widget,it says “That username is currently reserved but may be available in a couple of days”,though no one has been registered with that name and “That email address has already been used. Please check your inbox for an activation email. It will become available in a couple of days if you do nothing”. At the same time,the register page(on the right) says
“xxxxxxxxxx is your new username
But, before you can start using your new username, you must activate it.
Check your inbox at xxxxxxxxx@gmail.com and click the link given.
If you do not activate your username within two days, you will have to sign up again.”
The same message appears for every new user being registered
