Read More function

Hi, I want to add “Read more” feature. I already know how. But instead of opening up the whole blog upon pressing “read more” I want them to be redirected to the original blog/site. I tried to add link to the “read more” separator, but it ignores the link completely. No matter what I do, it opens up the whole blog even though I have linked it somewhere else.
