Hi Allyson,
Can you install any plugins at all? The upgrade folder that you’re getting an error for isn’t something GDE creates or references at all. It sounds like a broader WP problem rather than an issue installing this specific plugin.
If you’ve placed the whole “google-document-embedder” folder in wp-content/plugins and it doesn’t show up in the admin panel, that too is a WP level issue beyond where my plugin would reach.
Let me know if I can provide any further help.
Kevin
Hi Kevin:
Thanks for a swift response. I think this is a WP issue and not your plugin as well. I am now at the end of my rope with this wp install (done by someone else). The blogpage itself is working but I am unable to update or install any plugins.
If you have any suggestions as to where I might find more answers I would appreciate it. All I am trying to do for this blog is create a child theme so I can adjust the css and add a few plugins.
I have been searching the net for a whole day and am no closer to the solution than I was before.Frustrating!
Thanks again, if I ever get this page to accept plugins I will certainly try yours!
Allyson
It sounds to me (though of course I haven’t looked at the server to say for sure) that the folder permissions are incorrect. This happens mostly on Windows/IIS hosts in my experience. If that happens to apply to you I might be able to recommend other steps, but really this is something the web host normally deals with… Good luck. 🙂
