WordPress keeps messing up my html
-
I’m putting up a sales button which directs people to a credit card site but everytime I paste the html code into Wordress it just scrambles it so the link doesn’t work!?
What should I do? :/
Please help

Where are you pasting the code – which editor? Are you switching between the visual and text editors – that WILL mess up code.
Try pasting into the TEXT editor, and saving/updating the page before doing anything else.
Hi there
I’m pasting into the “Edit HTML Source” button. I’m doing nothing else. Paste, Update/save.
What theme are you using? That sounds like a theme option?
Headway Themes
What’s the code you are using? I’ll try it on a test site if you like. Be sure to use the code buttons when pasting code here.
Or try switching to the default WP theme and using the TEXT editor to paste that code into a post or page or wherever.

Will everything stay the same when I go back to Headway?
Works perfectly for me on a test site – so it sounds like the theme is doing something to the code. I don’t know how Headway works, so you might want to contact theme for help – these forums don’t support commercial themes.
But if you want to test it on twentytwelve, yes, you should be able to change themes – your site will look different while changed, but theme settings are saved, so when you switch back it should be the same.
Ok thanks, I will try that and contact Headway if it works with 2012!
Appreciate the help!
Ok I switched themes but it still didn’t work. So I disabled all of my plugins and then I got the basic work window in pages and could paste in the Text box you talked about and it worked. I Activated all the plugins again and my work window/editor always remained the same(WordPress style) so I have no idea what plugin changed that to begin with.
But now two days later and the WordPress Text editor is scrambling my text as well! I have no idea what to do :/
So did it work okay for two days?
Try:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem.
– switching to the default 2012 theme
This is getting really annoying. Now it works.
I had already disabled all plugins and changed to the default theme. And then activated all the plugins again and used my theme and it still worked.
It’s like it gets scrambled/changed just randomly for no good reason.
“Where are you pasting the code – which editor? Are you switching between the visual and text editors – that WILL mess up code.”
Maybe this is what’s messing it up?
I can’t paste the code, save and then keep working in the visual?
No – stop re-activating your plugins and original theme. A web site isn’t like a TV remote control where you can just try rolling the batteries to see if they will make it work again.
You need to run the site for a few days to see if the problem re-occurs. If it doesn’t, then active just one single plugin and run the site for a few days more. repeat until the problem re-occurs. Then you’ll know which plugin is causing the problem.
