Cannot edit anything!

I am really struggling with my site. I haven’t changed any content for about 10 months but now need to update my site; I have gone in to each separate page to try to make amendments and when I update nothing has changed,I have tried deleting all codex, pages, media, widgets, title etc and still nothing. I then went into filezilla and deleted the wp-content file….and stopped there because I have absolutely no idea what I am doing?!

Could somebody please help me? I am getting very frustrated and desperately need to get my website updated.
