WordPress displays posts from all categories on the home page by default. So if your installation does NOT do this, something is going on in the background which normally doesn’t. In that case we need a few bits of info to help figure things out:
1. What theme are you using.
2. What modifications have you performed.
3. What plugins are you running.
Oh my goodness. I am so sorry. What’s funny is I even said to myself “don’t be one of those people that doesn’t post all their info”. And look what I did. Can ya tell my brain is fried? *lol*
Ok…Theme is Radical Congruency ( a 3 column theme )
I’ve modifed, hmm…well the graphics and colors, but I don’t think any of the framing or important code. Just what my plugins add.
Plugins. Wow, let’s see…Falbum, Flickr Photo Gallery (mainly for the post bar), more smilies, subscribe2. That looks like all of them.
The site is http://www.libertykay.com if you need to take a peek. I’m very new to a lot of this and it’s a family site. Can you tell I’m a tired and overworked mom?
No need to be sorry. And around here we’re well aquainted with the tired and overworked (of any sort) coming looking for help. :)
I visited the site and what I see is a new blog with three posts in two categories, both of which (or rather, all three posts under) are being displayed on the home page. Is this what you see? If so, what are you expecting?
Nope, your seeing it right. They’re all showing up because I’ve had to add them to “uncategorized” category, (the default). If I unlink them from that cat, they dissapear off the front page. I can unlink them if that would help, just let me know =)
Ok, I unlinked “Update – new photos coming soon!” from “uncategorized”, it’s just in “announcements” now and not showing up on the front page. (I did this more just to double check I haven’t lost that last peice of my mind)
Hmm.
Taking a quick look at the theme it doesn’t appear to be at fault here. At least, the theme as is. But what happens if you (temporarily) switch to a different theme, such as the default?
The next step (if the above theme change doesn’t deal with it) would be to turn off each plugin in turn, to see if any of them are causing this.
Ah, troubleshooting!
Ok, default template also hides the “announcements” not also filed in “uncategorized”. I have a feeling this all may be related to my falbum plugin, because whenever I post under “uncategorized” it duplicates my photo album and photos. I’ll turn it off for a min and see what that does….
Ok, I am officially an idiot. Apparently I somehow had sideblog activated and didn’t even see it (thought I had deleted it since I never got it to work with my template). I told you it might be something completely obvious!
Thank you sooooo much for all your help. It was really sweet of you to take so much time with me!
