Adding "Read more" to slider excerpt

On the slider, clicking the title to read the full post is not intuitive since its not an obvious link. I’d like to append a “read more” link to the excerpt.. I found where the elipse are added and have hacked on the header-extensions.php file which builds the slideshow HTML to add it, but no luck.
How can I repeat the title href with plain ol “Read more” anchor text ?
