    Ok I think I solved it. I just added changed this:

    [gallery type="rectangular" ids="290,291,292,293,294,249"]

    to this:

    [gallery link="file" type="rectangular" ids="290,291,292,293,294,249"]

    the addition being ‘link=”file”‘
