The Protocol-relative URL

This is called a “network-path reference” according to RFC 3986 (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3986#section-4.2). Now many projects are starting to use this “technique”. It allows a better handling of HTTP/HTTPS requests, and browsers are just fine with that.
