Hi Im trying to get a website up and running but have had alot of trouble because im a first-timer with wordpress.

My Question is: After deleting the Style.css file for the theme i used, how is it posible to repair this theme or reinstall it?

I’ve found the style.css but the FTP program wont let me change anything in the theme folder.

    Thank you.

P.s If you got a quick help for another problem: How do i work on the website without it being published instantly by it self?`. thank you kindly.

    Philip.

Try re-uploading a completely fresh copy of the theme’s folder using FTP.

Tried that, it doesn’t let me change anything after i upload a fresh copy.
After the fresh copy of the theme is uploaded, the files in the folder remain ontouched and the new copy’s files isent to be found. the only one i need is the style.css and it wont upload :/

Try switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

The website went all blank/white now after i renamed the theme.

Still got a broken theme, which is the one i would like to use, was there other ways of reinstalling it or reparing it to it’s old state?

    Thanks for your help.

I mannaged to fix the broken theme with the thing you told me about renaming it to old, then a took a fresh copy and put in with it, it recognized the name instantly and it works now, thanks alot. now i can almost get on with the website.

I would just love to know, how i can work on the site without it being public yet? is there a way to shade it from everyone els? a way of taking it offline with like a switch/button?

    Thanks

You can use a plugin to hide the developing site behind a maintenance page: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/maintenance-mode/

I got that plugin and it should be active, but it doesnt seem to work sadly.

Re-upload a fresh, unpacked, copy of the Twenty Twelve folder to wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

yes, but it’s surpose to be hiding for the public so i can work on it without it looking unfinished. :/ that plugin doesnt seem to work properly.

You could try looking for another maintenance mode plugin but that one is pretty popular and seems to work for most people.
