• I’m trying to run the installation script to finish installing WordPress onto my site (hosted by Laughing Squid). I put http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/install.php (with my domain name, of course) into the web browser, and I keep getting “Error establishing database connection”.

I double-checked that my username, password, and hostname are correct in the wp-config file, so I’m not sure what to do now. Helpppppp.

  • I’m sorry but it sounds like there’s an issue with the database hostname. Double check all of your database details with your hosts.

If I try to access that page with my site, I get the message that there doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file, but there is one.
I tried to upload it again, but no success…

You need to access the wp-config.php file using FTP – not via your web browser.

I am having exactly the same problem and I have uploaded WordPress 3 times now. My ISP says there is no problem with the database and I know I have entered my details correctly.
