That depends on your theme. If it has a page.php template – that’s the one used to display Pages. Normally (but this is considered only my private opinin!) people should NOT comment on Pages. E.g. on my About page I don’t want any idiot to comment on my introduction 🙂
You can always edit your page template to let them comment. See how it is done in index and single, respectively.

But isn’t that a bit strange…. as there are options when you create a page to allow comment or not. To me it seems a bit strange to turn that possibility of in the theme when you can disable it in the form…..

If you just disable it, it will still display the “Comments are off” thing… which many people find ugly 🙂

Ok I see… then there maybe should be another option to disable it all together from a page… It cant be right to cripple functionality from such an important feature as the pages….. ;o(
I was planning on using one page as a guestbook and I have lots of other things in mind….

I dont think that the themes are the right place to change the functionallity of WordPress. That should be done i settings and options. Themes are just for the presentation and so on….

So, where is the problem?
You can have 101 Page templates, 50 with comments and 51 without comments.
I do find it very very practical that I can define where (in which theme, which template) I want to use the comments feature and where I don’t.

Ahhh… Ok. Sorry I didnt know that you can control it with the templates. You see I am new to WordPress, coming from Xoops.
I will look into this template thing and learn how to use them for my purpose.
