Since I am so new to this, I am not sure how to ask this question, but here goes. I am in the process of choosing a theme and will be using adsense on each of my 550+ pages on my website. Am I correct in assuming that the various adsense themes offered have a fixed place for adsense ads? In other words I cannot just place them wherever I want on the page?

Or is there a theme that will allow me to do that ( I have no programming knowledge).

  • You can put ads on any theme (pretty much) – one easy way is with a plugin such as this

Thanks, I am slowly learning! Appreciate all the help. Still not quite comfortable with WordPress but getting there! I am trying to duplicate the layout of my current site on a “master page” that I can then use on all my other pages.

Making slow progress. here is what I have so far

Trying to make it similar to my current site http://www.thecatholictravelguide.com

Can anyone suggest a book on website design with WordPress? I do better with books. I bought “WordPress Domination” which helps some but is more geared towards forums. I intend to have a forum but my main goal is a comprehensive website that I can easily edit.

People say the “WP for Dummies” is good.

I’d also recommend using Amazon’s reviews to find books, and be sure the book is not too outdated or you will run into differences between the book and current WP.

Thanks. The books get good and bad reviews so I will do my research carefully.

I guess I am still confused as to what theme to use. I can afford a premium theme if under $80 if that makes a difference. Perhaps someone can suggest one. My goal is:

    1. Drag and Drop editing.
    2. Create the same look (heading, etc.) on all 600 pages of my website.
    3. Easy to change content on pages.
    4. Add a forum and blog.
    5. Easily seen on mobile devices.

It seems that I first need to select the right theme and stick with it. So that is where I am right now. I have one that I am working with right now: http://thecatho.w13.wh-2.com/wordpress/

Can’t quite get the layout right, but maybe I need to learn how to use a drag and drop editor. Here is my current site that I want to change to WordPress: http://www.thecatholictravelguide.com
