• Hi all,

I have an online shop I created using WooCommerce, but the loading speeds have recently been terrible (in the region of 15 seconds plus).

The speeds weren’t like this when I first opened the shop, but I haven’t added anything that would have changed the speeds this much, other than a few additional products.

I saw this post from someone who seemed to be experiencing a similar problem, but none of the suggested solutions seem to work for me (I have downloaded W3 Total Cache etc).

From looking at Pingdom, Images are a large part of my loading speed, but I need to retain all my product images. Can anyone suggest any solutions for this, or any way of compressing the images?

I would appreciate any advice given for improving the loading speed of my shop, my site is http://www.icedjemsshop.com

    Many thanks in advance!

  • I should check a couple of things.

First, do you have the latest version? The 2.x version is faster and does not consume as much memory in my experience (and Woo also says so).

However, WooCommerce still needs quite lot of memory on the server to run smoothly.

Also, not WordPress related, i noticed that on some shared hosts, the database can be really slow. And more products you have, the slower it gets (while your shop, nice one btw!, does not have THAT much products. I’m talking about 500-2000 products).

    So.

    • 1. Check that you have the latest version (Warning: Test on a testsite first!)
    • 2. Check your hosts memory
    • 3. Check the database speed.

A bit old link, but useful as a starting point on pin pointing down problems with shared hosts.
