How do I set the select box so that it requires a user to make a selection before submitting a form?

I am using the free version of VFB

Add a blank option to the first in the list and make the field required. That will force the validation to fire because a value isn’t selected.

is it possible to modify the validation on this one?

say, the first option is Select?

how could i modify the validation?
