Are you trying to have your News (Blog) show on a different page, not your homepage (Front Page)? I had this problem when I first started out with WordPress, and yes there is a way around it and its quite simple and easy.

Step One: Create a new Page. Name the page “News“, but do not enter anything in the body, and just hit publish.
If you already have a page called “News” use that page, but make sure it has no content.
Step Two: Create a Homepage (Front Page). Name it anything you want, and add any content you want to show on your Homepage, and hit publish.
Step Three: Go to Settings >> Reading and under where it says “Front page displays click on “A static page (select below)“.
Step Four: Add your Homepage (Front Page) that you just created to where is says Front Page.
Step Five: Add the “News” that you just created to where it says Posts Page, and you’re done. Just click save changes and you’re done.
