I have followed the instructions on the ‘Changing the Site URL’ advice page to no avail.

Basically, my theme developer changed the URL my site pointed to as they were trying to resolve any issue I had when trying to amend my permalinks from the Default option to Post name. They changed the URL from http://www.infinityphotographic.co.uk/infinityphotographic (which is where the database is stored on my host server) to just http://www.infinityphotographic.co.uk They then advised me they could not access the site and have left me to sort it!

Not only has this messed up my beautiful website, I now cannot access my wp-login screen.

I have backed up my site via the ftp and did follow the instructions given to insert additional code in my theme’s header file but could not access my site or admin login.

    Can someone please help?!

Access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin and manually check, in the wp_options table, the siteurl and home values and make sure they are correct.

Make sure you backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case.

    Thanks for you reply.

I can access via Filezilla but don’t know which folder/file to look at from the info you have provided above. Sorry.

Are your canonical tags set up properly?

    try going to both:
    http://www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin
    &
    yourwebsite.com/wp-admin

If you go into Settings > General, you will find two text fields called “WordPress Address” & “Site Address”.

The site address is where the actual site is, the WordPress is the main directory of the website that has WordPress installed.

Ideally, these both need to be the same! Visit the URL that’s in the WordPress Address field and see if that works.

    I hope this helps,

    Sam.
