Using a 920 px width for the slider, with image loaded as the featured image, works fine, however it makes it difficult to get a nicely cropped image when the posts are displayed with thumbnails. Is there any solution to this dilemma?

I’m not sure you get the problem. To display a nice image with the slider, the focused area is to the left of the content box.

With the thumbnail, the crop is taken from the center of the image, which isn’t the focus of the photo. Please advise.

I have not tried it, but the Multiple Post Thumbnails plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/multiple-post-thumbnails/ looks like it may help.

My preferred method however is to add a ‘slider’ custom post type – then an entirely separate image can be used instead of the one of the target post.

When doing this, you can use the Custom Redirect URL field in the Genesis Theme SEO Settings of the ‘slider’ post to set the link target.

    Thanks…I will explore those options.

@cubecolour – you can use add_post_type_support( ‘your-post-type’, ‘genesis-responsive-slider’); to enable the slider for your CPT.
