• I recently installed WordPress at http://jacobmorse.com, and it has been working wonderfully.

However, as of today, my comments have gotten messed up (not sure how and not sure how to fix it).

All line breaks, or paragraphs (I’m not all that code-savvy) have gone away. When I go to Manage>Comments and click to Edit a comment, all of the formatting is correct. The line breaks are there, etc.. Yet, when I view the comments on the manage page (or on the post itself), it is all one big paragraph. Any idea why this would be?

    FYI:
1.) I’m using Squible as my theme.

2.) I installed a few plugins, including Subscribe to Comments. I have since uninstalled this, but the problem remains.

3.) I even went so far as to replace Comments.php in my theme folder to no avail.

Thanks in advance for the help!

  • I ran Squible for a while and never had this problem. Can you switch to the Default theme and see what happens.

I don’t think Squible has anything to do with it, honestly. When I go to the Manage>Comments admin page, each comment is just one large paragraph. Yet, when I click “edit”, there are paragraph breaks.

Interestingly, all other formatting shows up correctly, like bold, italic, etc.

    I’m confused!

Did you change any other files, such as allowed tags? Try restoring the files called kses.php and something like “comment-formatting-functions.php” – it’s got formatting in the filename, at any rate.

I don’t believe I changed any other files. I installed some plugins and that’s it. What do you mean “allowed tags?” I restored kses.php and comment-functions.php — still have the problem. This is frustrating!

What happened when you changed to the default theme?

Same thing happened. The problem is visible in the admin section. It looks like just one big block of text – no paragraphs. Yet, when I click edit, the paragraphs are there. What gives?

Take a look at jacobmorse.com — click on a post and look at the comments. Does anyone know what would cause that? There should be a line break between the comment permalink and the comment itself, but there isn’t!

Pleeease. This problem is really annoying and I’ve tried everything. What could be wrong?
