Re-upload a fresh, unpacked, copy of the theme’s folder to wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

You need to ask your hosts for assistance with FTP.
thanks for the advice however I am not a complete rube. I uploaded via ftp the new un opened file for easel to my server and its a complete restart of the entire website is that your take?
copy the code from functions.php file in pastebin.com and share the link here. Then we can check the code and modify it

If you cannot manage this yourself, perhaps you need to consider hiring someone to carry out the work for you?

thats quite freindly of you esmi, and also fairly presumptive. I apologize if my ability seems infantile to someone of your expertise. However if you’d like to check out my site when this issue is cleared you’ll see that my site while i am not an expert and i dont know coding , i am capable of learning and believe it or not my site has been built and optimised by only me researching and taking my time to explore. mean while i wont have my bachelors in webD&D until this time next year. That is kind of you both to offer but i am not trying to spend money needlessly. I was under the assumption that i could recieve community help here free. My bad! the initial advise was to start a three month old weblog all over again. (NOT!) And an assumption that I have no idea what FTP means. bringing me to the conclusion that the moderation here is moderately moderate! Particularly since the only other time i needed help i got absolutely zero response I.e., http://wordpress.org/support/topic/broken-links-23?replies=1#post-3823918
oh by the way we can squash this current issue I uplorded a restore file for the functions.php folder to my server and corrected what ever the error was. Thanks!

No – merely realistic. There is only so much we can do via this forum. Why are you amending the main Easel theme instead of making your changes via a child theme?
