http redirect not working with wordpress

I have just installed wpress into a subdomain. I have my html website working in the root domain. I am goind to use the wpress as a blog that is hyperlinked to my website.

The problem I have is that my htacess file on my root domain redirects all http://www.example.com to example.com etc.

So the wordpress is not working and I cant change the address in wordpress of my blog adress. eg. example.com.au/example/ it has to be http://www.example.com.au/example/
