Static top level menu tags

    Hi I hope you can help with this problem. I am trying to create a simple static top level menu item which does not link to anything but only acts as a guide for sub menus within it.
    I have followed the guidance to create a custom link and insert “#” in the URL but when I click on the new menu item it still tries to link out of the site and obviously displays the message:

    The address isn’t valid
    The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded.

    What am I doing wrong?
