My wife’s blog (http://www.anntraveldiary.com) became flooded with thousands of spam comments. Last night, I was finally able to use a SQL script to purge all of the comments from her blog, so she can start anew with the proper plugins in place to manage the problem.

The issue I have now, however, is that each post still shows the previous number of spam comments in the balloon adjacent to the post’s title. How can I reset these counters back to zero?

In spite of my success in using the SQL script to zap all of her comments, please assume little to no knowledge on my part re: the technical side of managing a blog when responding. I’m definitely a newbie.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Problem solved – and it’s a plugin! Web Ninja Comment Count Fixer. Sadly, it hasn’t been updated by the developer in 2 years but I decided to give it a try anyway. Works beautifully with WP v3.5. Even allows you to set it to run on a timer (e.g., once a day) to automatically update your comment counts so they are never out of sync. Love it!
