weirdly this was asked once before today – the only one I have found is this commercial plugin for a tiled gallery
I had found that plugin as well but for whatever the reason when I tried to download the zip file it was rejected???
I was looking for the same thing. Tried using the shortcodes, but that clearly didn’t work 🙂

I couldn’t find anything that was free but the plug in Justified Image Grid at http://codecanyon.net/item/justified-image-grid-premium-wordpress-gallery/2594251?sso?WT.ac=search_item&WT.seg_1=search_item&WT.z_author=Firsh for $17 worked well. Even easier then that, if you have a MAC, is to download the App Turbo Collage and create the collage outside of wordpress, and then download it as a pic… Hope this helps.. its seems to have worked on my site.
