Page for comments

    I have comments disabled on my blog. I just like to post things and not have any comments detracting from the post. The site is just getting started so there is not much content.

    I want people to be able to comment on stuff. So I thought maybe having a page dedicated to comments.

    How can this be done?

    Right now I have a guestbook script installed on my site and have a menu link to use that script. The guestbook script is not customizable enough to change the look to my wordpress theme.

    So if I create a page and allow people to post on that page there comments is that possible? I don’t want people to be able to post any where else on the site except that page

    Yes, that’s possible. Create a new Page for your comments & check “Allow comments” in the Discussion pane of that Edit page. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Discussion”.

    Ok thanks that worked fine. I do have the disable comment plugin enabled on my site. I had to go in there and set it to not disable on pages.

    Thanks for the help. Now I can delete the comments if they are spam and not acceptable right?

    Why? It shouldn’t be needed.

    Yes. Are you running the Akismet plugin?

    Why shouldn’t the disable comment plugin not be needed. Can I still disable comments on all posts without it? I am fairly new to all this.

    I just enabled the Akismet plugin on my site now.

    Because you can disable all comments on future Pages & Posts via Settings -> Discussion

    Ok thanks was unaware of that.

    Is there a good book or web source to get familiar with running a wordpress blog? This way I don’t have to post these beginner questions in here.
