Mail Plugin Shortcodes display instead of Forms

    I’m having trouble with mail plugins shortcodes showing up on my pages instead of the forms themselves. I’ve tried Contact Form 7 among other plugins. Other shortcodes ( [gallery], [caption] ) seem to be working (at least they don’t show up as text on the screen).

    I’ve tried changing theme to Twenty Eleven- good.
    Tried deactivating other plugins- no good.

    I desperately need to get a single field form on to this site- all it needs to do is email me a text field. Any thoughts??
