Trouble getting subdomain setup

I’m using WordPress on Godaddy and haven’t been able to get Multisite working. I think I have WordPress set up correctly but I can’t go to the subdomain blog or its dashboard. From what I’ve read I’ve gathered that I don’t need to actually create a subdomain on Godaddy. Is this correct, and if so is there some configuration I do need to do on Godaddy?
