unzipping WordPress

The 5-minute install instructions say “..to integrate WordPress into the root of your domain, move or upload all contents of the unzipped WordPress directory (but excluding the directory itself) into the root directory of your web server.”

But once it’s been transferred, how does one unzip the file?
