installation falling over

I’ve spent a while struggling to create a database, and I think I’ve done it. Or at least, when I enter the database details in the install program it says “Alright sparky, we can connect to the database now run install”. press the install link and it then tells me it can’t connect to the database!!!

The database user has priveleges set to all.

I’m a complete novice to this, so any help would be appreciated.
